A specialized group of wound care nurses and technicians, in addition to our critical care nurses, deliver care daily to patients with highly complex wounds such as those with:

• “Bed sores” otherwise known as pressure injuries that can be all the way down to the level of bone with an infection burrowing into the bone called Osteomyelitis
• Arterial wounds which are caused by a blockage in the arteries
• Vascular wounds caused by weakening vein structures and incomplete blood return to the heart
• Diabetic foot wounds which, if left untreated, can lead to amputations
• Surgical wounds have failed to heal or become infected post-operatively
• Abdominal fistulas, colostomies, and ostomies
• Trauma wounds, skin tears, friction shears
• Mechanical and mucosal pressure injuries secondary to lines, tubes and other equipment utilized during critical care that led to wounds

We utilize a plethora of simple and advanced tools such as:

• Negative Pressure Wound Therapy or a wound vac
• Multi-layer compression wraps
• Low Air Loss and Alternating Pressure Mattresses for ALL 63 beds
• Weekly bedside debridements by board certified Plastic Surgeons specialized in wound care and graft placements if needed
• Intravenous Antibiotics monitored by Infectious Disease specialists

Our most unique tools are our 4 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Chambers which deliver 100% oxygen under pressure. We have successfully treated patients with Diabetic Foot Wounds, Pressure Injuries, abdominal fistulas, necrotizing fasciitis among other conditions. The synergy between the antibiotics, debridements, wound vac and HBOT have served our patients to greatly increase healing time of wounds as well as having a holistic effect.
